Kids and Chakras

Why kids would benefit from knowing about chakras

There are different theories and presentations on what a chakra is, where it lies in the body, and how they all work. The way I present it here is the way I see it based on years of working with and studying various thoughts on the topic.

Giving children tools to interpret their experience in a body, helps empower them to make decisions. They learn to listen to themselves and direct their energy consciously, allowing them to settle into themselves and their authentic power.

I remember first learning the charkas and thinking "So that is what I am seeing... I wish I had known this since I was a kid. I could have avoided a lot of struggle!"

Kids pick up on this stuff quickly, because their mind is not hardened into the "what you see is what there is" mentality. But if the adults around them don't know how to lead them, it can confuse what they are picking up and what is being validated as real. So learning this information will help you validate what they are learning and picking upon.

Chakras in Kid’s Speak - Follow the Rainbow

We develop our chakras through different stages of life. Not all of these energy centers will be fully intact until later, but it is good to get the conversation going. It is also a good thing for you to notice in your child where they are at and how you can help them refine their sense of self.  Direct them to feel the part of their body where the chakra lies and the feelings associated with that energy center.

The Red Chakra - Located at the base of the spine. Children can relate to this chakra through how safe they feel.

The Orange Chakra - Located in the groin area. Children can relate to this chakra through their creativity and emotions.

The Yellow Chakra - Located near the navel. Children can relate to this chakra through how they feel about their mind and their sense of who they are. This one takes more time to develop, so their sense of self may vary depending on age.

The Green Chakra - Located near the heart. Children can relate to this chakra through how they love, their love for their toys, their parents, their pets, etc.

The Blue Chakra - Located near the throat. Children can relate to this chakra through how they speak and listen.

The Purple Chakra - Located near the forehead. Children can related to this chakra through how they feel about themselves in the world. They can also use this chakra to sense into the imaginary world of unseen friends such as fairies, dragons, and unicorns.

The Golden White Chakra - Located at the top of the head. Children can related to their chakra through how they feel about the world around them. Their sense of what is true about their outside world.

Activating the Chakras

As you notice something might be off, all you have to do is ask your child to focus on the part of the body identified and the color. This will be all it takes to invite the system to balance itself. The body wants to be balanced, all you have to do is choose to notice it as such.

Your Role as the Adult

All you have to do is listen, including to your energy centers. As children learn about themselves, be willing to see things through their eyes. Regarding their energy, don't tell them the way you see it is the only way to see it. Listen to how they see it and together you can interpret what they are experiencing through your information and theirs.
