Book Review: 365 Days of Happiness
365 Days of Happiness
Because happiness is a piece of cake!
A step-by-step guide to happiness
A Book By Jacqueline Pirtle
The Author
I don’t know Jacqueline Pirtle personally, nor do I actually know how she found me to request a book review. But after reading her book, I felt like I got to know a happy, inspiring, genuine person.
So, I looked into her further. She looks like she is kind of like me, a happy, bubbly healer that likes to help people get back on the path of being aligned and well within themselves. In case you are curious her website is www.freakyhealer.com.
I heard her be introduced on the video on her website as an energy healer and happiness coach. We all need a little happiness coaching once in awhile!
She says in the video and her book that the inspirations for the book came from her normal routine of waking up, feeling good and writing about it. Her natural inclination to start the day off happy, led her to write a page for the book every day in 2017.
The Book
This book falls in line with my favorite genre, the genre I like to refer to as “become your best self” genre. It is easy to ready, inspiring and simple to implement. It is written kind of like a daily inspiration book. The pages are filled with ways to tap into your feelings and shift your perspective and your energy. It is a self-help book with a flavor of whimsy and ease.
The title is pretty self-explanatory. I wouldn’t have called it a step-by-step guide myself, just cause that implies that you do A and then B and eventually get to the end…happiness. This book is more like an oracle deck in book form. The author invites you to leave the book by your bed and use it wake up to inspire you when you first wake up to be in “high for life” energy.
You could easily hold this book in your hand and just open to a page for inspiration, or use it as a way to start your day or, if you are reviewing it you can be like me and blaze through it, tagging pages you want to spend more time with later.
I know some of my clients get frustrated with books that suggest you just shift stuff out, as if it is so easy. One of the best parts of this book is she gives you a lot of reminders to give your not so pretty emotions space too. She acknowledges anger, frustration, unrest and a variety of other uncomfortable feelings and asks you to give those feelings space too. I think that is really important when working on shifting your mood. You can’t just BE happy when you are not, but you can get yourself back there.
My Take
This book is pretty cute. I could definitely find myself giving this as a gift to someone or using it to help a client get himself or herself out of a funk. I like that the pages are pretty short, easy to skim and clear on what to do.
This book is good for people who are good with their imagination and playful side.
I am a visualizer by nature, so if you aren’t good at visualizing, you may not like this book. There is a lot of invitations to imagine yourself somewhere or doing something. If you aren’t good with metaphors you might not like this book either. I personally love using metaphors to shift my perspective and give myself a new feeling to play with. Especially when I am lit up about something.
It is pretty simple to read and use, but if you are new to visualizing as a way to shift your energy, start slow and really let yourself try the activities. It might help to use it with a journal, especially if you are in your head about things or over analyze.
My Favorite Parts
I had many favorites with this one. Below are a few brief examples of what ‘s on the pages.
Day 83 she invites you to sort through the gifts of what energy is your and not yours and let the “not yours”.
Day 104 was probably my favorite. She uses the analogy of two ponds, one filled with a lot of water lilies while the other one only has a few. She asks you to contemplate which one you would go to if another person asked you to share. You would obviously go to the pond with more. Here is reminds you to take care of yourself first and don’t give energy away you don’t have.
Day 122 she uses an analogy of a pair of pants that are given to you by a loved one. Ones that don’t really fit your style but you wear anyway, out of honor for the loved one. Then she invites you to only wear energy that is your true energy, which fits you.
Day 147 she uses the house as a metaphor for your relationship with the timeline of your life. She asked you to go to the “now” floor and notice when you are looking back or getting your feelings mixed up with the past. I love to use the imagery of a house in my group healings, because it is such a profound way to look at yourself and where you are in space.
Day 167 she invites you to have a conversation with everything! This is so amazing and wonderful because everything does have a vibration that could shift into conversation. It is a great mindful practice and also reminds us that there are messages hidden everywhere.
I hope you found this review helpful and you are finding yourself connected to your inner wisdom and authentic self.
